The Low-Frequency Array (LOFAR) telescope is doing well on its promise quickly.

The Netherlands-based array raises the following radio frequencies, which include the signs of radiation that are formed during the merger of galaxies. Now, an international team of scientists has published the first research done by LOFAR - and it connects 300,000 previously unknown galaxies to our map of the universe.

On Tuesday, Astronomy and Astrophysics Journal published a special edition dedicated to the 26 research papers generated from the LOFAR's first space survey.

Because LOFAR can detect invisible short radio frequencies for other telescopes, it was already able to record a significant amount of undesirable data during its survey of the sky - about 10 million DVD value According to Timothy Shimwell, researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy (ASTRON), it was a team effort to process data making maps of these 300,000 additional galaxies.

He said in a press release, "We are working together with the SURF in the Netherlands." These images are now public and allow astronomers to study the development of galaxies in unprecedented detail. "

There is a possibility of using a new astronomical map to study black holes.

"If we take a radio telescope and we see the sky, then we see primarily emissions from the immediate black environment of the black hole," said Leiden University researcher Hub RotorGairing in a press release. "With LOFAR we expect to respond to the fascinating question: where do they come from the black hole?"

Other people can use new images to support the research on the relationship between magnetic fields or galaxies - and after all, Director of ASTRON, Carol Jackson, sees nothing for the new maps.

"This sky map will be a wonderful scientific legacy for the future," he said in a press release. "It's a testimony to the LOFAR designers that this telescope performs so well."
